This course is meant to assist student-teachers develop competencies that will help them to deal effectively with the 21st century challenges and beyond. It provides student-teachers with an understanding of ESD and its guiding principles and puts emphasis on the value of Indigenous Knowledge Systems (IKS), change projects and policies/conventions guiding ESD.
The course is intended to equip student-teachers with strategies for promoting and assessing development of personal, spiritual and social skills in young learners. It focuses mainly on how students and teachers can become responsible citizens in their countries. The course further equips the student-teachers with tools for monitoring progress and awareness towards attaining peaceful and friendly environment. It also endeavors to promote understanding, awareness and appreciation of the existence of culture and religions in Lesotho in the quest to build appreciation and tolerance of others in young learners.
