
The programme is intended to help you to develop understanding and application of sets, algebra, geometry, mensuration, statistics, probability and financial mathematics. It builds mathematical reasoning and problem-solving skills through concepts such as algebraic relationships, geometrical properties, mensuration, data analysis, probability, interest and financial decision-making.

The programme is intended to introduce you to theories, principles, and practices of teaching and learning mathematics. It examines cognitive and social constructivist approaches, including Dienes and Skemp. The programme is also intended to help you develop understanding of mathematical proficiency. In addition, you will engage with instructional strategies such as cooperative learning, exposition, guided discovery, visual aids and mathematics manipulatives. The programme also covers formal and informal assessment approaches, including formative assessment though peer and self as well as summative assessment. Emphasis is placed on integrating STEM education and Indigenous Knowledge Systems to promote meaningful inclusive and contextual relevant mathematics learning.

This course explores the integration of educational technology in mathematics teaching and learning. It focuses on selecting appropriate educational technologies and designing technology-enhanced learning experiences for the mathematics classroom. You will examine instructional strategies for effective technology use, as well as technology-integrated environments such as blended, hybrid, and online learning. The course also develops skills in using educational technologies to support assessment, feedback, and evaluation in mathematics, with emphasis on enhancing learner engagement, mathematical understanding, and effective teaching practice.
