The course intends to equip student teachers with scientific literacy that is relevant to the teaching and learning of science at the primary school level. Student teachers will be exposed to science concepts, Indigenous Knowledge Systems related to science, scientific skills, attitudes, and values as well as the teaching strategies and constructivist theories of learning that will enhance their ability to develop scientific literacy in learners. Student teachers will be able to incorporate issues of environment, safety, and sustainability when teaching science.
