
This course is offered to all students majoring in Mathematics in the Department of Pure Sciences. It is intended to equip students-teachers with content knowledge and skills that will enable them to handle LGCSE mathematics with proficiency. The topics covered are algebra, logic, real number system, set theory, mensuration, basic trigonometry, arithmetic, basic geometry, equations and inequalities.

This course is designed to help you as a student-teacher gain both the content knowledge and teaching strategies needed for mathematics in the foundation phase. You will explore topics such as number patterns and statistics to ensure you understand the essential concepts to teach at grades 1-3. Alongside the content, you will be guided through the introduction to mathematics teaching in the foundation phase and exposed to contemporary teaching methods that will strengthen your ability to engage young learners effectively
